Ukraine and Russia began a ceasefire in the Russian-occupied city of Oleshky on Tuesday to allow an aid mission to reach roughly 2,000 stranded residents. Deutsche Welle reported that those remaining face severe shortages of food and medicine. The town has been devastated by fighting and flooding since Moscow's invasion in 2022. The pause is limited in scope but is meant to let humanitarian supplies and possibly evacuations proceed.
