An attacker was shot dead by a police officer outside the Israeli Embassy in Belgrade shortly after midnight on October 28, 2026, after wounding a guard with two knives. Serbian interior minister Ivica Dacic said the assailant was a minor, reasonably suspected to be from Sabac, who shouted "Allahu Akbar" during the attack. The Serbian interior ministry called the incident a terror attack, and The Times of Israel reported the assailant had an Islamic State flag on an Instagram account. Haaretz reported the suspect was known to security services for supporting the Islamic State group, and the officer was lightly wounded. Authorities raised the terror threat level to its highest setting, and no additional suspects had been reported.
