Syria reopened its main border crossing with Jordan on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, as the two countries reaffirmed ties strained by a deadly Jordanian retaliatory strike. Al-Monitor reported that the strike was a reprisal against a gun attack on a church and sparked the worst crisis between the two countries since the ouster of Bashar al-Assad in December 2024. Syria condemned the strikes on its south as an "unacceptable violation," while Jordan's position was also part of the reconciliation reported by Al-Monitor.
