Canadian researchers are studying the life that returns after wildfires, as 2026 brings hundreds of thousands of people in North America, Europe and Africa forced from their homes. Mongabay reported that four of the five worst years for global forest fires have occurred since 2021. The reporting was supported by a Sitka Foundation grant.
