Fourth-tier Fleetwood Town beat Premier League champions Arsenal on penalties in the Carabao Cup last 16 on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, reaching the quarter-finals. The match was halted for more than eight minutes because of a drone above the stadium, and Arsenal's Dowman was sent off. BBC Sport noted 83 league places separated the sides and called it the biggest night in Fleetwood's history, and also ranked the result among the biggest cup upsets, while questioning whether Arteta went too far in his approach.
