The US economy grew at a 3.4% annual rate in the third quarter of 2026, the Bureau of Economic Analysis said in its advance estimate released October 29. Growth accelerated from 2.2% in the second quarter, with increases in investment, consumer spending and government spending partly offset by lower exports. CNBC reported that the GDP figure beat expectations as September inflation accelerated. BEA also reported that personal income rose $54.5 billion, or 0.2%, in September and personal consumption expenditures increased 0.5%. CNBC, citing the Dow Jones consensus, said the PCE price index was projected to rise 0.5% in September, an annual rate of 3.7%.
