The Federal Trade Commission and several states sued restaurant software and fintech firm Toast Inc. on October 29, 2026, alleging hidden and unauthorized fees and deceptive subscription and cancellation practices. The complaint also alleges that Toast deceptively touts its costs and '24/7/365' customer support. The lawsuit was filed by the FTC, the People of the State of California through the Los Angeles County Counsel and San Francisco City Attorney, and the attorneys general of Colorado, Florida, Illinois, Iowa, Nebraska, Oklahoma and Utah.
