A Liberian-flagged container ship chartered by an Israeli shipping company sank in the Black Sea after being hit by three suicide drone boats, The Times of Israel reported on 2026-10-29. No injuries were reported, and the ship had departed from Haifa. Reuters reported that a drone attack also sank a Greek container ship off Bulgaria, the latest in a series of strikes on ships in the western Black Sea this month. Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis called for a global maritime truce at a UN Security Council debate, saying commercial vessels must be able to navigate safely even in conflict. The Times of Israel attributed the string of attacks to suspected Russian operations.
