Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas said he hoped the election of a new Israeli government would allow the resumption of peace talks, Middle East Eye reported on 2026-10-29. Speaking in Nicosia with Cypriot President Nikos Christodoulides, Abbas said the Palestinians have long extended a hand to Israel to achieve peace and security for both peoples. The remarks came while Israel's election had produced no clear winner and coalition talks remained unresolved.
