A fishing cat found badly injured and malnourished in northern Bangladesh has been released into the wild after months of intensive rehabilitation, Mongabay reported on October 29, 2026. The animal was released into a tea estate bordering a large freshwater wetland and fitted with a satellite-tracking collar. Conservationists present the rescue-and-release effort as a potential model for protecting the threatened species.
