A Sierra Club analysis projects that US power-sector carbon dioxide pollution could rise 42 percent by 2030 over 2025 levels as fossil fuel infrastructure is built to meet data center demand. The increase of 618 million tons would essentially wipe out 15 years of greenhouse gas reductions, according to the analysis.
