The Milwaukee Brewers beat the Tampa Bay Rays in Game 5 of the World Series on Wednesday night, 2026-10-28, to win the first championship in the franchise's 57-year history. The Rays had forced Game 5 by rallying in the bottom of the 12th inning of Game 4 on Tuesday, when the Brewers were three outs from a sweep and lost their first postseason game in 21 days. Rays ace Drew Rasmussen started Game 5 on three days' rest to try to stave off elimination. Sports figures such as CC Sabathia and J.J. Watt, along with other Wisconsin teams, congratulated the club on social media, and early 2027 power rankings already asked whether Milwaukee would be No. 1.
