Russian publisher Eksmo rewrote passages of the Russian translation of Joe Hill's novel King Sorrow to avoid censorship, changing the author's meaning, Meduza reported on October 29, 2026. The changes removed a reference to Putin and replaced the invasion of Ukraine with war in Europe. The alterations were drawn to attention by Nikolai Karayev, who compared the original with the Russian text on Telegram.
