A hacktivist group calling itself Distributed Denial of Secrets exposed the identities of more than 40,000 Department of Homeland Security employees, NPR reported on October 29, 2026. The leak reportedly unmasks ICE agents, DHS operatives and contractors. The group said the disclosure was fair play given what it described as the government's lack of transparency. The release raises security and privacy concerns for the employees named and for the agency.
