The United States has sanctioned Rwanda's defence ministry over the conflict in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo, BBC World reported on 29 October 2026. Congo accuses Rwanda of backing the M23 rebels and plundering minerals in the conflict-hit east. The BBC World report did not give details of the terms of the sanctions or Rwanda's response.
