Hong Kong's Tai Hang Fire Dragon Dance, first performed in 1880, continues to be held on the evenings of the 14th, 15th and 16th days of the eighth lunar month. Atlas Obscura described the ceremony in a feature published on 29 October 2026. The tradition began in what was then a small Hakka fishing and farming village. According to oral history, a python was tracked down and killed after it devoured much of the village's livestock, and a severe plague followed that caused many deaths. The feature is a cultural item with no news development.
