The Wikimedia Foundation filed an amicus brief arguing courts should legally protect large language models trained on copyrighted work. It opposes chatbots that regurgitate that work to users. The foundation warned that an overly black-and-white ruling could deprive Wikipedians of useful AI tools or endanger the open web.
