Bat Week, running October 24 to 31, 2026, is a worldwide celebration of bats, which make up about 20% of all mammal species, Mongabay reported on October 30, 2026. Bats live on every continent except Antarctica and provide services such as mosquito control, pollination and seed dispersal. Despite their ecological importance and wide range, bats remain poorly understood by researchers and the public, the report said.
