Smithsonian Magazine reported that a 2,800-year-old flute made from bone was unearthed at Troy in modern Turkey. It is the first musical instrument ever discovered in the ruins of the ancient city, after more than 150 years of excavation. The flute may have been played around the time Homer composed the Iliad and Odyssey. The find adds a rare artifact to the archaeological record of the site.
