Pope Leo XIV, born Robert Francis Prevost, cast a ballot in the US midterm elections on October 30, the first time a pontiff has voted in such an election, Kyiv Post reported. He requested the mail ballot on October 3, and it had to travel from Joliet, Illinois to Vatican City. He has voted in Illinois for years, but this is his first vote since being elected pope in May 2025, reflecting his view that citizens have a right and duty to take part in democracy.
