More than 1,400 Africans have been recruited to fight for Russia in Ukraine since 2023, France 24 reported. The issue was notably absent from the agenda of the Africa-Russia summit, where African leaders and Russian officials discussed security, trade and political cooperation. In Tunisia, the families of several men who travelled to Russia for work or study are still searching for information about the fate of their loved ones.
