The Giant Squid Museum in Luarca, an Asturian fishing town in northern Spain, displays a giant squid, a deep-ocean animal that can reach about 20 meters and weigh up to a ton. Atlas Obscura reported on the museum on October 30, 2026. The giant squid, known scientifically as Architeuthis, has three hearts and enormous eyes adapted to the darkness of the abyss. Its strange anatomy has inspired sailors' legends of sea monsters for centuries.
