The United States has approved the sale of 500 Patriot missiles to Ukraine, according to BBC World. The American-made interceptors are described in the report as the only effective weapon for downing Russia's ballistic missiles. BBC World's report did not give the value of the sale, the delivery timeline, or any response from Moscow. The approval comes as Ukraine continues to face Russian missile and drone attacks on its cities and energy infrastructure.
