German Chancellor Friedrich Merz has invited members of the Coalition of the Willing to a meeting in Berlin in November to coordinate further support for Ukraine, Ukrinform reported on 31 October 2026. The announcement comes alongside renewed Kremlin demands that NATO reduce its presence on the eastern flank. A Polish expert quoted by Ukrinform said those demands repeat proposals Vladimir Putin made in December 2021, which the Alliance rejected at the time. The expert argued that reiterating them now shows Putin is out of touch with reality. The Berlin meeting is expected to focus on coordinating allied backing for Kyiv.
