Japanese Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi urged Moscow on October 30 to immediately release a Japanese journalist detained on suspicion of espionage. He made the request during a meeting with his Russian counterpart, Sergey Lavrov. Motegi also called on Russia to take steps toward a just and lasting peace in Ukraine during the talks, according to Ukrinform.
