Turkey has nominated its former foreign minister and UN ambassador Feridun Hadi Sinirlioglu for UN secretary-general, France 24 reported, citing state media on Saturday. The submission was officially backed by President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. France 24 reported that Erdogan has been particularly vocal in calling for reform of the UN Security Council. The nomination puts Turkey's candidate forward for the post as the UN leadership selection process continues.
