An oil tanker carrying 27 Indian crew members caught fire after limpet mines struck it near Oman in the Strait of Hormuz, Deutsche Welle reported. Deutsche Welle reported that the attack is the first known successful use of limpet mines in the waterway since the US-Iran war began. Deutsche Welle also reported that two vessels carrying Indian crew members have been attacked in the strait over the past two days as Iran steps up attacks on shipping. The tanker's crew is entirely Indian, which has made the incident a focus of coverage in India. The sources available so far do not identify who carried out the attack.
