A merchant vessel was struck by an unknown projectile in the Strait of Hormuz, according to the UK Maritime Trade Operations agency. The incident was reported to UKMTO by the master of another merchant vessel, and the excerpt did not identify the vessel, the attacker or any casualties. Middle East Eye reported that Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Navy said two oil tankers exploded after striking mines while travelling through an unauthorised route in the strait, according to Iranian state media. The IRGC Navy's mine account differs from the unknown projectile reported by UKMTO, and neither account has been independently confirmed. Iran has imposed restrictions on vessels seeking to pass through the strait and has attacked ships it says violate them.
