Israel reportedly asked Lebanon to deploy its troops in areas where Hezbollah operatives live, to keep the group from joining a renewed war with Iran, according to a public broadcaster report carried by The Times of Israel on November 2, 2026. The report said Jerusalem wants Lebanese forces to act in Hezbollah-dominated areas. The Times of Israel also noted a separate report that the US struck an Iranian island in the Strait of Hormuz, and no official Lebanese response was included.
