The New York Times and other publishers filed lawsuits against Brave Software, the company behind the Brave browser, over alleged unlawful scraping of copyrighted content. The complaints say Brave sold access to scraped content to AI companies, including Anthropic and Perplexity. The suits also allege that Brave let users bypass publishers' paywalls, according to reports by Reuters and TechCrunch. The complaint was filed by the New York Daily News, the Chicago Tribune and the Orlando Sentinel, among others.
