Google says Shenzhen-based Videostrong Technology secretly built a backdoor into 1.3 million Android devices and turned them into a botnet. Google says it has dismantled the backdoor and cut ties with the manufacturer. Videostrong has been banned from building or selling certified Android devices or supplying software for them, and the infected devices were used without their owners' knowledge.
