Anthropic has updated Claude Code's system prompt to stop the AI tool from being used to re-create existing video games. The change targets direct clones, while still allowing users to make new games with Claude Code. The move follows a surge of AI-made decompilations, recompilations and ports in retro gaming, and Ars Technica said the new rules are unlikely to stop the wider copying trend.
