Ukrainian ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets announced on 2 November 2026 that the ceasefire around occupied Oleshky in Kherson region, in effect from 27 October to 1 November, has ended. The pause had been agreed to allow a humanitarian operation around the temporarily occupied city, which Ukrainian outlets said enabled aid deliveries and the evacuation of civilians. Ukraine's General Staff says Russian troops used the humanitarian pause to rotate units, strengthen defences and expand logistics in the Oleshky area. Ukrainska Pravda and Ukrinform both carried the General Staff's account, and the sources give no independent confirmation of those military claims. Further humanitarian efforts in the area are being considered, according to the ombudsman's office.
