Serbia's Central Bank revoked the licence of Alta on 30 October 2026, freezing client accounts at one of the few local banks where Russians could open accounts easily. Meduza reported that many clients had kept money from selling property in Russia, and others received salaries through the bank. Authorities promised to return up to 50,000 euros in lost deposits, but what happens to the rest of the money remains unclear.
