France has opened a judicial investigation into a war crimes complaint over an Israeli strike on a residential building in Beirut in 2024. French-Lebanese artist Ali Cherri, whose parents were killed in the strike, filed the complaint as a civil party through the International Federation for Human Rights, his lawyer Clemence Bectarte told AFP. The Paris Judicial Court's crimes against humanity unit has appointed a team to probe the civil suit.
