The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps said it destroyed four oil tankers trying to cross a prohibited passage south of the Strait of Hormuz, and that two other violating vessels were seized or halted. The IRGC also said it shot down an MQ-9 drone, its 56th, over the strait. Press TV and IRNA both carried the IRGC's account, which was announced by the force's Public Relations office. The reports did not include independent confirmation of the tanker losses or the drone downing, and the vessels' owners and flag states were not identified. The incidents come while Iran is pursuing talks with Washington over the strait.
