NASA successfully demonstrated technology to help spacecraft autonomously navigate to safe landing sites. An Alta-X drone with the SPLICE guidance payload completed simulated lunar descent and landing maneuvers on August 27. The agency says the technology could be used on the Moon and other planets. The flight test was reported by NASA on November 4, 2026.
