A federal appeals court ruled on Wednesday that Michael Crichton's widow can pursue a lawsuit claiming Warner Bros. Television's Emmy-winning drama The Pitt is derivative of ER. In a unanimous opinion, a three-judge panel denied Warner Bros. Television's appeal. The studio had argued the two shows are unrelated. The court cited clear and numerous similarities between The Pitt and Crichton's 1990s hospital drama, according to Variety and Rolling Stone. The case now continues toward further proceedings.
