UNIFIL confirmed on 5 November that it will start withdrawing from south Lebanon when its mandate ends on 31 December. Lebanese officials have warned that the peacekeepers' withdrawal could leave a security vacuum. Israel has accused the force of letting Hezbollah infrastructure proliferate in the area.
