Ukrainian officials said Kyiv expects a new dynamic in US support for Ukraine after Democrats gained control of Congress in the November 2026 midterm elections. Zelensky said Ukraine now has increased chances of securing additional aid and should fight to secure $16 billion in previously suspended US aid. Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha said Ukraine's security is inseparable from that of the United States and claimed Russia shows no real sign of serious interest in negotiations. Zelensky also told German media that the election outcome would strengthen congressional support.
