Two oil tankers caught fire in the Strait of Hormuz on 6 November 2026 after striking mines, according to the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps Navy. The IRGC Navy said the vessels were violating maritime regulations, with one east of the strait and the other within it, while attempting to navigate an unauthorized route. IRNA carried the Guards' announcement. The IRGC Navy described the tankers as stopped after the mine strikes. The reports do not identify who laid the mines or give casualty or damage figures. The incidents add to the strain on shipping through the strait.
