Around 2,000 tonnes of waste are dumped daily at the Dandora landfill in Nairobi, where workers rush in to recover recyclable materials at risk to their own health. France 24 reported that only 7 percent of the plastic can be recycled despite their efforts. The France 24 report describes the workers as unsung environmental heroes. It did not give worker numbers or any official response to conditions at the site.
