Iran's exiled prince Reza Pahlavi accepted Germany's Freedom Prize for the Iranian people in Frankfurt on Saturday, November 7, 2026. Iran International reported that it was the first time the award went to a nation rather than a person, and that Pahlavi said he would hold the prize until he could hand it to Iranians in Tehran. Al-Monitor reported that a police estimate put the crowd at about 18,000 demonstrators, many waving pre-revolutionary Iranian flags, and that critics called the ceremony illegitimate. The prize was awarded by the Friedrich Naumann Foundation, an activist group close to Germany's governing politics. Iran International described tens of thousands rallying, while Al-Monitor cited the police figure of 18,000.
