ScienceDaily reported that humans collectively produce more than 2 billion tonnes of carbon dioxide each year by turning food into energy. That figure is a 74 percent increase over three decades, largely driven by population growth. Unlike fossil fuel emissions, the exhaled CO2 is part of the natural carbon cycle. Scientists say measuring it more accurately could improve climate models.
