Political scientist Alexander Kynev and environmental activist Dmitry Morozov were arrested on drug charges in Russia after publicly alleging fraud in the September parliamentary elections. Kyiv Post reported that the arrests followed their public claims. Relatives and defence lawyers said security services beat both men, subjecting Morozov to electric shocks and inflicting a double leg fracture on Kynev. The allegations of abuse have not been independently confirmed.
