Russian exporters have begun shipping pig iron through the Arctic port of Murmansk for the first time since 1996, Kyiv Post reported. The shift reroutes cargo away from the Black Sea after nearly 700 maritime strikes this year. The detour adds about 10 days to voyages to Mediterranean destinations such as Turkey and raises freight costs by up to $100 per ton.
