Claim

Ukrainian military intelligence said Operation Cheburechna cleared more than 600 hectares of Russian-held territory in Sumy region. The figures were released by Ukrainian military intelligence and have not been independently verified.

Evidence

Searches found that Ukraine's military intelligence (HUR) announced on Telegram on Oct. 20 that its special forces (GROUP 10) cleared more than 600 hectares of forest in Sumy region over a seven-week operation. Kyiv Post, UNN (which calls it Operation Cheburechnaya), Mezha.net and UNITED24 Media all carried the statement. All of this coverage repeats HUR's own figures. I found no independent verification, no Russian response, and no fact-check from Reuters, AFP, Bellingcat or EUvsDisinfo.

Assessment

The attribution is accurate: HUR did make this claim. The 600-hectare figure comes only from HUR and has no independent corroboration or fact-check, so it stays unverified.

Confidence

Some independent corroboration was found, but it isn't yet conclusive.
